Your public domain audiobook library

AudioCloud is a free, non-profit audiobook search and indexing engine. It does not host, store, or distribute audio files. All audio content is played directly from the LibriVox collection hosted on the Internet Archive. Our servers transmit only text-based index data (metadata, links). No audio data passes through AudioCloud servers.
All audiobooks indexed by AudioCloud are derived from the LibriVox project, which exclusively records works that are in the public domain in the United States — meaning the author died before 1929, or the work was published before 1929, or the copyright has expired under US law.
AudioCloud makes no independent legal determination about the copyright status of any work in any specific jurisdiction outside the United States.
If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), or the United Kingdom, additional copyright rules apply to you. Under EU Directive 2006/116/EC, a work enters the public domain in the EU 70 years after the death of the author.
Some works that are public domain in the United States may still be protected by copyright in your country. AudioCloud automatically filters content for EU/EEA users based on the author's recorded death year. Books where the death year is unknown or falls within the 70-year protected period are hidden from EU users by default. This filtering is provided as a good-faith service and is not a legal guarantee.
By using AudioCloud as an EU resident, you acknowledge that it is your responsibility to verify that any work you access is in the public domain in your own jurisdiction before listening.
Under the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Svensson v. Retriever Sverige (Case C-466/12) and GS Media v. Sanoma (Case C-160/15), providing links or embedded players to content that is already freely and publicly accessible on the internet does not constitute a "new communication to the public" under EU copyright law, provided the linking site:
AudioCloud meets all three criteria. We are a non-profit, good-faith index of freely available public-domain audio content.
AudioCloud operates a voluntary Notice & Takedown policy. If you believe that a book indexed on AudioCloud violates copyright law in your jurisdiction, you may submit a formal notice to [email protected] or use the DMCA form on this site. We will investigate all good-faith notices and remove or block access to the relevant content within 48 hours of receiving a valid, documented complaint.
If a link or player is left active after you have submitted a valid, documented notice and 48 hours have elapsed, please contact us again. We are not liable for infringing content once we have removed the relevant link promptly upon notification.
AudioCloud is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of metadata, or the availability of third-party audio files hosted on Internet Archive servers. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any external website or file linked from this platform.
AudioCloud collects only the information you voluntarily provide during registration (username, email address, country). This information is used solely to operate your account and to apply the correct regional content filters. We do not sell, share, or monetise your personal data. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising networks.
By registering an account you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that the information you have provided is accurate, and that you have read and accept these Terms & Conditions. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
AudioCloud may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued use of the platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last updated.
